P30,000 is the Decent Salary for Teacher I, Not the SSL

Representative France Castro of ACT Teachers Partylist claimed that teachers are struggling to cope up with the current economic status of the nation. From the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion or TRAIN which increased the prices of basic commodities in the society to the load of works and lack of teaching resources, teachers are apparently having tough times to deal with these things. Yet the government found a way to not only increase the salary of uniformed personnel but doubled it. This is mainly the reason why groups of teachers kept on fighting to provide a decent salary to all public school teachers in the country.

On the other hand, some senators have already submitted their proposals regarding this salary increase for government employees in the form of Salary Standardization Law V which will take 3 tranches to be fully implemented. Unfortunately, one version of this SSL will only give around P500 increase for teachers annually which is practically way below the teachers need.

Again and again, the call to the government is to deliver the promised salary increase. P30,000 for entry-level teaching positions and P16,000 for salary grade 1.
