DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones mentioned on a radio interview on Tuesday that an estimated amount of P150 Billion is needed to deliver the President's promise to the teachers.
She explained that this will have a huge impact on our society as it will require a massive chunk of the national budget. Hence, she asked, "Are we, citizens, prepared to pay additional taxes to cover that P150 billion?" "Kasi magiging permanteng part ng salary nila yun." She added.
The Secretary also made mention of the various allowances teachers are receiving with the additional support of their local governments.
""Maybe we have to consider na at the rate that we are going, hindi naman na pinaka-api ang teachers." Briones stressed.
