“Ang huling dapat gawin ng pamahalaan, paasahin na naman iyong ating mga teacher na tinaasan pero wala naman pagkukunan kaya hindi mapapatupad. Baka ipangutang pa nila iyon, drawing pa lang. Mas maganda na kung may pagtataas na gagawin, tiyak, sigurado at may pondo para doon,” - Senator Francis Joseph "Chiz" Guevara Escudero.
The senator said that the government should prove through data that there is enough funding to deliver its promise of salary increase to the teachers.
Spokesperson Panelo has recently stated that the President has already instructed his economic managers to look for funds for the said increase and that teachers have a special place in his heart considering that his mother was a teacher too.
However, Sen. Escudero said that there are 4 possible sources of fund to meet the needed budget for the salary hike and these are loans, realignment of funds, tax increase, or savings.
