School-based Rules of Procedures regarding Bullying Cases

School-based Rules of Procedures regarding Bullying Cases

  1. Here are the various steps regarding resolving bullying cases:

  2. 1. All bullying cases must be reported to the School Child Protection Committee (SCPC). SABAC is the main organization which has reportorial power over bullying. Individual teachers, the Faculty Club and the parent associations can also report bullying cases. All of them are empowered to prevent bullying they observe and witness. It is better to prevent bullying than to cure or resolve it.

  3. 2. The School Child Protection Committee is tasked to conduct an investigation. After such investigation, the school principal based on consensus and consultation with the members of the Committee can issue resolution of the case for disciplinary action. The action of the Committee is considered final and executory. 3. The said Committee has authority to decide what sanctions are to be executed for the erring ones. Expulsion is the highest penalty and verbal warning is the lowest penalty depending on the gravity of the offense. 4. The law enforcement agency may be notified if the committee believes that criminal charges under the Revised Penal Code may be pursued against the perpetrator or erring ones. 5. The parents or guardians of the victim must be notified regarding the action taken to prevent any further acts of bullying or retaliation. The parents or guardians of the erring one or perpetrator must also be notified of the action taken. 6. If an incident of bullying or retaliation involves students from more than one school, the school first informed of the bullying or retaliation shall promptly notify the appropriate administrator of the other school so that both may take appropriate action. 7. A public record of relevant information and statistics on acts of bullying or retaliation in school must be maintained: and the names of pupils who committed acts of bullying or retaliation must be strictly confidential and only made available to the school administration, teachers directly responsible for the said pupils and parents or guardians of students who are or have been victims of acts of bullying or retaliation.
