ADVISORY
CLASSES will PROCEED in public schools in Taguig City tomorrow, March 9, 2020, Monday.
This is based on the advisories of the Department of Health and the Department of Education.
We have been closely monitoring COVID-19 (then called nCOV) since January. In fact, as others begin to implement preventive measures, our social preparations program for COVID-19 is already entering its 5th week.
In this period we have strengthened the linkages with our private and public schools through our Education Office and we are in constant consultation with them.
We have downloaded protocols and instructions on our two-pronged approach towards fighting COVID-19:
(1) monitoring and reporting
(2) prevention and protection
All protocols remain in place. There will be infrared scanners, handwashing areas and alcohol dispensers in all public schools.
Rest assured that we will continue our long-term and proactive approach in fighting COVID-19.
For schools who have signified the intention to cancel for a “clean up or sterlization day," please proceed with what is best for your individual schools based on existing information on COVID-19. We respect and encourage utmost caution in ensuring the safety of our students. Our CEDSU team can provide further information on how to properly sanitize and ensure the safety of your schools.
We will be vigilant and relentless in ensuring the safety of our children and our city.
The declaration of the President is a welcome development as it will allow us to further enhance the capabilities of our COVID-19 team.
At present, we have a dedicated 24-hour hotline with 2 ambulances on standby for COVID-19 cases. We have also activated teams in ALL barangays and our City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) is working closely with the Department of Health.
We warn the public against the spread of false information about COVID-19 circulating on social media to avoid undue anxiety in our community.
Should you have concerns, your City has a COVID-19 hotline which you can reach at 8789-3200 or 0966-419-4510.
Let’s continue to work together against COVID-19! - Dr. George P. Tizon
